This 20 February 2019 Jack Whitehall hosted the 39th Brit Awards, the annual award ceremony of popular music from the British Phonographic Industry. The show was hosted in the O2 Arena. So, bands like The 1975 and DJ Calvin Harris swept up awards, but who wowed on the red carpet? Let’s take a look at The Brit Awards best dressed list.

Jack Whitehall

Host of the evening, Jack Whitehall, looked dapper in this silk-look navy blue tuxedo jacket with black trousers. He had a classic white button up shirt and black bow tie. He opted for a white pocket square and black shined leather shoes.

Here are some funny clips of Jack Whitehall interviewing some of the guests.

Liam Payne

Singer Liam Payne—and former One Direction star—was nominated for Best Video of the Year with ‘For You,’ his collaboration with Rita Ora for the First Shades Freed soundtrack, but he didn’t win this time.

Liam wore a black suit with rounded lapels. The single-breasted, single-button suit had red embellished stitching along the collar and pockets. He wore a black button up shirt with hidden buttons and a subtle collar pin with no tie. He wore shiny black leather shoes to round out the look and his hand tattoo is visible.

What do you think about this all-black look?

Calvin Harris

DJ Calvin Harris dressed to impress. His silky sheen brown fabric single-breasted suit with large pointed lapels with button detail and double pocket detail certainly impressed. He wore a simple black turtleneck underneath and black, shiny leather loafer shoes with gold detailing.

The suit had intricate stitching details on the collar and contrasting fabric colour. The suit was cut to catch the light at certain angles. The trousers were low-waisted with a stripe down the front.

Harris won an award for ‘Best British Single’ for ‘One Kiss’ with Dua Lipa and ‘Best British Producer.’ He also performed some of his best hits with Sam Smith and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.

Shawn Mendes

Jack Whitehall asked Shawn Mendes about his CK underwear campaign and the singer appeared to blush at the mention. At the Brit Awards, Mendes was nominated for ‘International Male Solo Artist’ which he won in 2017.

The young Canadian singer wore a slim fitting light grey (almost duck-egg) single-breasted suit. He wore an open necked button-up black shirt with a necklace and bracelet to accessorise. He opted for slightly heeled black shoes in a slight boot style. His hair was slicked up and he wore a wide, confident smile.

Sigala

English DJ Sigala, real name Brush Fielder, was nominated for his song ‘Lullaby’ with Paloma Faith in the category of ‘Best British Single’ but they lost out to Calvin Harris and Dua Lipa.

Sigala wore a black button up shirt (sensing a theme here) but this time he decided to go with a pointed lapel single-breasted red jacket with red trousers and a double-breasted red low-necked waistcoat. Like Harris’ suit, the fabric on the collar contrasts in the light. The tailored trousers were low slung and baggier on the fit. The jacket was a little slimmer fitting.

He chose to wear shiny black laced up shoes, like many of the other men of the night. Even though his underpinnings were commonplace, the suit was not. The striking colour and the rich fabric were certainly a nice choice.

Matt Goss and Luke Goss

Luke, English actor and former 1980s band drummer, and his twin brother Luke, singer-songwriter and musician, attended the Brit awards in style. It’s a good job since this 50-year-old duo (they don’t look it!) had not appeared at the show in around thirty years and fans were delighted.

The brothers presented the ‘British Artist Video of the Year’ award.

Matt wore a striking blue single breasted three-piece suit with a silvery sheen. He wore his hair slicked back. He decided to go for a white button-up shirt and a white tie with silver tie pin. His shirt sleeves were long and were styled with cufflinks below the sleeve. He also decided to accessorise with a pocket watch in her waistcoat. It’s a classic look with a more daring shoe.

On the other hand, Luke went for a tad more flair. He chose the black pant and black button up look that was very popular this year, but his black single-breasted suit jacket was embellished along the collar and the front stitching in a shiny gold. It added some pizazz to the notched lapels. He chose shiny slip on boots to complete the look.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith was nominated for ‘Best British Male Solo’ but lost out to George Ezra. The English singer-songwriter chose to wear a powder blue suit with short notched lapels. The single-breasted jacket was buttoned high at the chest with prominent black buttons and the black buttons on the sleeve contrasted with the suit fabric.

He wore a lace featured undershirt buttoned up to the neck and his hand tattoos and gold rings completed the look along with his plain black shoes. The trousers were cut short (which made Smith’s legs look a little stockier than they might otherwise) and the sleeves cut a little long.

What did you think of this unique suit choice? The colour is certainly a winner.

Connor Swindells

Actor, model, and former boxer, Connor Swindells, attended the award ceremony with his girlfriend Aimee Lou Wood.

He wore the oft-seen black button up and black shoes but with the added bonus of a tartan subtle red and grey suit. The suit cut looked fresh and complimented his wide shoulders. The suit was a single-breasted suit with notched lapels and a higher waisted trouser.

Hugh Jackman

Actor Hugh Jackman, who is always on top performance, wowed the crowd with his act. He wore a silky-sheen blue tuxedo jacket, trousers, and cummerbund with black bow tie and button up with button covers.

He wore subtle cuff-links and shiny black shoes. The suit was a great cut with a subtle black stripe down the leg. Plus, only a well-cut and well-stitched suit could hold up to that performance. Hugh is always stylish and suave, though.
