On the 12th of December, following week-long festivities and star-studded events, Isha Ambani, 27, and Anand Piramal, 33, married in Udaipur’s City Palace overlooking Lake Pichola. And when billionaires marry they don’t go small. The wedding is reported to have cost $139 million. But that’s chump change for Asia’s richest family.

The life of billionaires

The Ambanis as stated are Asia’s richest family and they live in a one billion dollar—yes, B for billion—twenty-seven storey skyscraper in Mumbai, which is considered one of the world’s most expensive homes (only trumped by Buckingham Palace).

The family’s patriarch, Mukesh Ambani, owns the oil-to-telecom conglomerate, Reliance Industries. His net worth is $42.7 billion according to Forbes. The company was launched by Isha’s grandfather in a rags to riches story which began life as a materials business and grew to the world’s largest producer of polyester fibre and yarn.

Isha’s husband Anand is an heir to a real-estate and pharmaceutical business and fortune. He is the son of industrialist Ajay Piramal, who is thought to be worth $10 billion.

The guest list

Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Hillary Clinton, and Arianna Huffington were in attendance of the multi-million dollar affair. Shah Rukh Khan, another of India’s biggest movie stars, attended as well as former US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Download your app in the app store!

Since Indian weddings can be long, the couple had an app built for guest to consult if they are confused regarding the week’s events. The app included information on the dress code, the locations, and the timings of events.

The outfits

The bride, groom, and guests wore traditional Indian outfits. The bride was decked in a gold embroidered lehenga and adorned with jewels.

The bridesmaids wore satin dresses in creamy champagne.

Some of the guests wore traditional suits alongside their beautiful bejewelled dates.

The groom wore a gold embroidered outfit—and, in this video, you can catch some of the other celebrity guests.

The happy couple.
