Whilst suits are a popular look for celebrity ladies on the red carpet everywhere—and especially on The Graham Norton Show—very few women wore suits to the 76th Golden Globe Awards this year. Whilst colour was back in—in a big way—following last year’s black out in solidarity for the Time’s Up movement, women didn’t choose to wear pants, so let’s just get a roundup of the best dressed ladies at The Golden Globes 2019.

Sarah Gilbert and Linda Perry

Pantsuits are big on the red carpet and have been for the last two years with Blake Lively’s suit showcase and Cate Blanchett and others all rocking suits, but Sarah Gilbert and her singer-songwriter wife have been wearing suits since before it was a thing and this year’s Golden Globes were no exception. Gilbert wore a black velvet suit with flared trousers and a graphic t-shirt underneath and pointed toe stilettos. Perry wore a metallic gold suit with black lapels, platform boots with a square toe, a hat with a tall crown and lots of chunky accessories.

Jamie King

Actress Jamie King stunned in a fitted bodice floral metallic strapless gown with a black background and a slit to the mid-thigh. She wore metallic pointed toe shoes and accessorised with a box clutch and large fan earrings. Her hair—like her outfit—was reminiscent of the 1950s, but her bright blue eyeshadow and lipstick kept the look modern.

Rachel Brosnahan

Rachel, who is known for her role in The Marvellous Mrs Maisel, won this year’s award for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy. She stunned in a yellow gown with a sweetheart neckline and flared skirt. Her hair was pulled back simply and the gown complemented her pale skin well. She wore simple yellow drop earrings.

Christina Ricci

Long-time actress Christina Ricci who was most recently seen in Z: The Beginning of Everything as Zelda Fitzgerald, wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, wore a stunning crossover blue velvet gown with belted detail and plunging neckline. She opted for a short blonde bob, dramatic eye makeup, and a classic red lip, as well as a bold gold necklace. She also wore navy tights and pointed toe shoes.

Gemma Chan

British actress and Oxford alum, Gemma Chan, who is known for Channel 4’s Fresh Meat, her role in Crazy Rich Asians, and for her stint in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, wore stunning one-shoulder Asian-style dress. The dress was hot-pink and tea length, but fastened at the side only with some bow accessories so there was a slit all the way up to her hip. She wore simple silver bar earrings and silver strappy heels along with her hair pulled back and a stunning red lip.
