During last year’s Golden Globes, the stars wore all back to symbolise their solidarity with the Time’s Up movement. However, this year at the 76th Golden Globe Awards, which honoured the best in film and American television of 2018, chosen by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, colour was in full swing. There were winners such as Bohemian Rhapsody which won Best Motion Picture in a Drama as did its lead actor Rami Malek who won for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture in the Drama category. Richard Madden, who we’ve also written about a couple of times, won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series in a Drama for The Bodyguard. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the fabulous suits seen that night.

Idris Elba

Idris showed up with his stunning fiancé, Sabrina Dhowre. He wore black trousers paired with an amazingly coloured bottle green tuxedo-style jacket with smooth lapels and a matching waistcoat. He opted to go without a tie on his crisp white shirt and to wear a matching pocket square. Even his green shoes matched!

Richard Madden

Richard opted for the classic tuxedo—but in a sumptuous black velvet. He had a classic two-button single breasted jacket, a crisp white shirt (no black button covers) and a black bow tie. He wore classic black lace-up leather shoes. The tux is close fitting and the large button detail adds interest. He was a winner in more ways than one and the look with his shock of silver hair contrasted well with his blue eyes.

Billy Porter

American stage performer, Billy Porter, certainly made a Golden Globes entrance. He wore an embellished and embroidered matching suit and cape with a stunning hot-pink (a la Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) cape lining. His bedazzled shirt down to his heeled 18th century-style shoes were all perfectly matched and fab. That is one way to dress up a classic-cut suit!

Rami Malek

Rami, like Madden, also played it safe suit-wise again opting for a classic tuxedo with a white shirt and white tie. However, the white piping detail on his long, single-breasted notched lapel jacket added some interest and contrast. He wore black pants with a contrasting stripe and black, shiny leather shoes.

Darren Criss

Darren Criss, who is perhaps most recently known for his role as Andrew Cunanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, which he won Best Actor in a limited series for showed up to the Globes rocking a tuxedo-style look with a jacket embellished with lilac purple flowers. He seemed thrilled to win and his outfit was striking.
