At some recent Bollywood events, Indian men seem to be moving away from the traditional dress and following more Western trends, including double-breasted suits, tuxedos, and classic single-breasted suits. Let’s take a look at the latest Indian fashions.

Kunal Kemmu and Angad Bedi

Both of these Bollywood actors attended the ‘HT India’s Most Stylish Awards’ this March. Kunal chose to wear a classic checkered pattern single-breasted dark blue suit with a double-breasted waistcoat. He opted for a blue shirt (no cuff showing) and a bow tie to match. His brown leather shoes complete the look.

Angad, on the other hand, wore a more traditional Indian-style suit with single-breasted buttons that reach all the way to his neck (unbuttoned) with a classic white shirt underneath. His trousers and jacket match and his blazer has no collar. Angad is more adventurous in his footwear with a velvet maroon slipper-style shoe.

Kunal is a famous Indian film actor, starring in Kalyug, Traffic Signal, Dhol, Golmaal, 99, Go Goa Gone, and Kalank. Angad is an Indian model and actor known for his work in F.A.L.T.U., Kaya Taran, Malayalam, Ungli, and PINK.

Vicky Kaushal

Hindi film actor and son of action direction Sham Kaushal wore a (perhaps?) Star-Wars inspired tuxedo. The jacket is white with contrasting black pointed lapels. It has a single-breasted closure. The left collar detail has almost an electronics-inspired style print. His tuxedo buttons are black and square and his shirt collar has black detailing too. His bow tie has contrasted white detailing. Vicky has clearly taken time, effort, and thought into designing this black-and-white ensemble. He wears classic black trousers.

Interestingly, this young actor has a degree in engineering but his film debut was in the 2015 independent drama Masaan. He was also in the more recent films Raazi and Sanju, which were some of the highest grossing Indian films in 2018. He won best supporting actor for the role. He can be seen also on the Netflix films Love per Square Foot and Lust Stories.

Would you wear such a fun take on a classic tux?

Ranveer Singh Bhavnani

This next actor takes some bold style risks. To this award’s show, he wore a bright yellow double-breasted suit. The suit came with non-symmetrical pockets with extra buttons. The buttons weren’t aligned and there was an extra strip of fabric that buttoned across the neckline. He wore a plain white t-shirt and the suit fabric was quite see-through. You can even see the pocket lining in the trousers.

So, the suit is made in a semi-traditional cut but with a thin, lightweight, and see-through fabric. The lapels are notched and he finished the look with matching white sunglasses and a moustache.

Ranveer is one of the Hindi film industry’s highest-paid actors. He has appeared on Forbes’ India’s Celebrity 100 list since 2012. He is known for his roles in Lootera, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, and Alauddin Khiji.
