Whilst the men of the Oscars shone with their unique new takes on tuxedos, the women wowed as well. We saw lots of unique looks this year and pink was the most dominant colour with women like Angela Basset, Gemma Chan, Sarah Paulson, Helen Mirren, Julia Roberts, Emilia Clarke, Maya Rudolph, Kiki Layne, and new cleaning sensation Marie Kondo all rocking the colour. Plus, many women rocked suits too from Amy Poehler to Awkwafina to Melissa McCarthy. Let’s get into the Oscars best dressed women for 2019.
Charlize Theron
South African actress and beauty Charlize Theron wore Dior Haute Couture and Bulgari jewellery. She wowed viewers with her brunette bob—when she’s known for her golden locks. She wore a high-neck structured powder blue gown with pleating at the shoulders to add extra dimension. The plunging back of the gown was a stunning surprise. Her series of diamond necklaces including a snake chain and large diamond earrings completed the look.

Young Elsie Fisher opted for a Thom Browne suit instead of a dress. She had her hair styled into a sleek long bob ala Margot in The Royal Tenenbaums, complete with a diamante barrette. She opted for a three piece suit in black with a single-breasted jacket, a waistcoat, and trousers with a contrasting stripe detail. She wore a white button-up shirt with Beladora cufflinks and chose a brooch instead of a tie. She completed the look with leather, thick-heeled boots and a gift-box inspired handbag.

She won awards for her performance as Kayla Day, in the comedy-drama Eighth Grade in which she played a socially-struggling teen.

Laura Harrier wore a Louis Vuitton gown and Bulgari jewellery. The sweetheart neckline gown was in a powder blue crepe silk with delicate silver beading and embroidery, which took over 450 hours of work with glass beads, crystal shards, and sequins. Her Bulgari necklace contained diamonds, rubies, and emeralds—on a large scale. She added a metallic belt to modernise the look. The slit up the side of the dress allowed her to show off her silver strappy heels.

In another Louis Vuitton gown, Emma Stone wore a unique structural piece in burgundy and gold detailing with sequins, pearls, and beads embroidered into the fabric which has sharp shoulder accents. The look has a snakeskin-like pattern with a fitted bodice that is nipped at the waist. The neckline is higher and Stone wore her hair pulled back.

Emma Stone’s co-star in The Favourite, Rachel Weisz wore Givenchy Couture and Cartier jewellery. The two piece bright red design was made of shiny latex over an embroidered gown. She wore two silver Cartier feather pins from 1903 that were sewn into her hair and accessorised with a red clutch. The embroidery focused on the waist and hips and the skirt of the gown was long and flowing.

She is also known for her roles in Enemy at the Gates, About a Boy, Constantine, The Fountain, The Lovely Bones, The Constant Gardener, Oz the Great and Powerful, Disobedience, and others.
