One day ago, on the 22nd of September it was reported that Blake Lively wore a skirt for the first time in months. As part of the publicity to promote her new film, A Simple Favour, Lively has worn a sharp and stylish suit for every public outing and premier. The film, which came out over the weekend, has been heavily promoted by the film’s stars Lively and Anna Kendrick with Lively even going so far as to delete every single one of her Instagram posts in May to promote the ‘Where’s Emily?’ theme. In addition to the deletions, she unfollowed every single person, including husband Ryan Reynolds, and only followed accounts with the name ‘Emily Nelson.’

In the film, her character, Emily Nelson, is a PR director with a penchant for power suits who befriends Kendrick’s character, Stephanie Smothers. But, she goes missing and it’s Kendrick’s job to try and discover the secret to her best friend’s disappearance. Based on the book of the same name by Darcey Bell, has been reviewed favourably, even by publications such as The New Yorker.

Blake Lively, prior to this year’s film promotion, has been known for her elegant, form-fitting dresses, but seems at ease in these stylish suits. Let’s explore some of the suits that Lively has worn in the last few months.

Double-Breasted Blue Dress

With the exception of her beautiful, show-stopping Met Gala dress in keeping with the New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Gala theme ‘The Catholic Imagination’ in early May, Lively’s suits have reigned supreme ever since.

For her first suit on April 26th, Lively turned a double-breasted four button jacket into a dress when she was on stage with co-star Anna Kendrick during CinemaCon during her Lionsgate Presentation for 2018 Summer and Beyond at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Lively looks exceptional with her blue suit jacket dress, patterned stiletto heels, and colourful bow-tie. She pulls her hair back at the sides, allowing the natural wave of her hair to shine.

Manhattan Maroon

On the 17th August, Lively was spotted on the Manhattan streets wearing a long-oversized waistcoat and matching trousers in blue velvet. She paired the look with a maroon blazer and grey duffel bag. When wearing her blazer, Lively daring went with the look unbuttoned completely, but when wearing only the waistcoat, she buttoned the single button. The look is surprising yet smart.

Lime-Green Goddess

Lively is spotted on the streets of Manhattan on the 17th August wearing lime-green from head to toe. She pairs a long single-breasted menswear blazer and black lining with matching neon-lime-green trousers and a tucked-in lime green cable-knit jumper. Her azure blue accessories – cuff bracelet, dangly-tassel earrings, and matching rings – complement the look and highlight her blue eyes. The bright pink lipstick and pulled back hair ensure that the look is pulled off flawlessly.

Fashion Week in September

For New York Fashion Week, Blake Lively is seen with the film’s director, Paul Feig, at the Ralph Lauren fashion show at Bethesda Terrace on the 7th September. She wears a classic tuxedo with a white waistcoat, crisp white shirt, top hat, and cane. Her pom-pom detail shoes add a touch of femininity and her clean makeup and hair showcase her beauty.

Film Premier at the MoMA

Blake Lively arrives at the premier of her film at the Museum of Modern Art in New York on the 10th September wearing a simple black single-breasted suit with a see-through sparkly turtle neck underneath. She wears her hair in a French plait and pairs the look with a pair of Louboutins. The blazer, however, has a surprising black-silver tassel-like lining detail as the coat-tails go almost to the ground.

Double Trouble

On the 13th September, Lively is spotted in Tribecca in New York wearing two kinds of suit. First, she’s spotted wearing a beautifully cut, slim-fitting navy blue pinstripe suit and grey newsboy hat. She wears Beatles-era circular black-and-white-check sunglasses and black combat-style ankle boots. Underneath is that a peek of midriff or a nude top? The pant legs are cropped so the boots are showcased. She looks confident and edgy-chic. (See image here.)

Next, she’s seen wearing a velvet trouser and waistcoat combination in black, her hair down and wavy, finished with some black brogues as she heads to her Tonight Show interview with Jimmy Fallon. She wears a sparkly, beaded black blazer with beads that catch the light. The trouser-waistcoat combination almost look like a jumpsuit, but the look is flawless.

Pink Perfection

On September 17th, Lively is seen in a blush pink three piece suit with double-breasted waistcoat. The trousers are slim fit through the hips and wide through the leg and have a satin stripe detail down the leg. Underneath, she wears a matching pink satin long-sleeved blouse with white collar and a powder-blue silk tie. Pointed toe stilettos complete the look.

Velvet Blue Chic

On September 18th, Lively attends the French premier of L’Ombre d’Emily (A Simple Favour) at the Cinema UGC Normandie in Paris. Lively wears a stunning devore suit, blue with velvet detailing. Underneath she wears a velvet top in a blue-purple hue and matching velvet scarf. She pairs the outfit with t-strap stilettos and pulled back hair. The long cut of the single-breasted coat looks elegant with the slim-fitted trousers.

Pinstripe Performance

On September 19th, Lively wears a dark grey pinstripe suit with large, off centre buttons whilst leaving the ‘C A Vous’ TV show in Paris. She wears matching trousers and overcoat, pairing the outfit with a Chanel Mademoiselle rose-patterned bag and t-strap pointed toe stilettos with an ankle strap and beaded detail.

Blake Lively looks absolutely stunning and flawless no matter what she wears, but she has slayed in her recent wardrobe choices. Lively famously has no stylist so her entire ensembles are of her own creation. Which suit of Lively’s is your favourite? Let us know in the comments.
