When you think of Cate Blanchett ‘daring suit’ probably doesn’t come to mind. Cate is best known for her roles in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Carol, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Cinderella, and – most recently – in Thor: Ragnarok and Ocean’s 8 amongst many other brilliant performances. You may think of her as a talented, beautiful, and Oscar-winning actress, who usually wows in couture gowns; however, recently, Cate has been seen wearing suits as she attends various red carpets and promotes her upcoming film The House with A Clock In Its Walls. Take a look at her most recent looks.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show

For her appearance on the ‘Ellen show’ on the 17th September, Cate wore a Brøgger suit, recently seen on the Spring 2019 runway. Brøgger is a Danish designer known for its womenswear. Cate wore this double-breasted suit with colour-block print in red and pink – with opposite colour pockets. The suit jacket is oversized and the trousers are loose-fitting. The look is elegant on Cate and looks chic and comfortable. The three-quarter sleeve length is unusual for a suit, but is beginning to crop up (no pun intended) more recently. Her short blonde hair has an elegant wave, not to detract from the suit’s style. She pairs the look with nude Malone Souliers ‘Penelope’ pumps. She is adorned with a cuff bracelet and a ring but no earrings. The suit is allowed to stand for itself and we think she looks fabulous. What do you think? Would you wear a colour-block suit and which colours would you choose?

Hollywood Purple Carpet

Next up is another look from her film premier. On the 16th September at the CL Chinese Theatre IMAX in Hollywood, California, Cate wore a fabulous double-breasted checkered black and white suit with flared trousers. The suit’s buttons take the spotlight as they are large and prominent. The style is loose-fitting yet classic and Cate’s stance makes her look confident yet graceful. Her hair is in the same wave as with her ‘Ellen’ appearance (the next day) and she doesn’t wear many accessories except some black sunglasses. She wears open toe strappy black heels. This suit is simple with its bold fabric yet shines on the purple carpet. What do you think of this look?

Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia 2018

Not strictly a suit but for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards Italia on the 23rd September, Cate wore this amazing all-white fitted outfit in Milan, Italy. The shirt and trousers are tailored and fitted to her lithe frame in an almost business-shirt-meets-gaucho-pants style. She wears a long tailored trenchcoat-like garment in white linen with a giant heart on the back – the outfit’s only pop of colour along with her phenomenal red pointed toe heels – and a swipe of red lipstick. Cate always knows how to look distinguished, simple, and refined. What do you think of this look?

Goodwill Ambassador to the UN

As a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Cate addressed the Security Council meeting on the situation in Myanmar on the 28th August. Cate looked powerful in a fitted single breasted navy suit and trousers with a cream silk blouse, paired with black-rimmed glasses, a cream handbag, and cream loafers. She wore gold accessories and looked determined to make change in the world. What a wonderful look for wonderful work. What do you think of this outfit?

Late Late Show with James Corden

Cate Blanchett reunites with LOTR co-start Orlando Bloom on ‘The Late Late Show’ wearing a sparkly silver blazer with notched black lapels. Underneath she wears black cigarette pants, a black button-up shirt, and black pointy toe stilettoes. No matter the suit or the look, Cate looks elegant and poised. Would you wear this outfit?
