Want to explore some memorable and stylish ladies’ suit looks? A suit is one of those wardrobe staples that can be instantly flattering, slimming, on-trend, and glamorous; these stylish ladies know exactly how to rock their looks (although they could all probably look equally amazing in a burlap sack). Take a look at our three top picks for women’s suits this week.

Mystique, is that you?

Jennifer Lawrence is probably best known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games and for her Oscar winning role, Tiffany, in Silver Linings Playbook; however, she also made waves as a woman in all-blue body paint and strategically placed scales as Mystique in X-Men: First Class. Her look for the Jimmy Kimmel show in LA back in 2016 is channeling her inner X-Men.

Whilst wearing this incredibly sleek ensemble, she is about to grasp a spray paint can – as she’s about to embark on some graffiti (a little revenge on her Passenger’s co-start Chris Pratt on a bus). And what graffiti artist looks more stylish than J-Law? To check out that portion of the interview, click here. In the video, you can see the suit’s unique button details along the lapels.

She is dressed in an all-black tailored suit with an expertly cut blazer with subtle lapels around the collar and more distinguished lapels along the front of the jacket. Her trousers are perfectly fitted at the waist and hips and hemmed to perfection to hit just an inch above the bottom of her black pointed-toe stiletto.

The statement piece of the look is the elegant beaded corset that looks almost as if it’s a sheer top (a la her X-men character) with elaborate silver beading. Her hair is pulled back into a chignon and her makeup is dramatic and glam. So, this might not be the best look for an office, but it’s sure to please on a night out. What do you think?

The Gossip Girl Style Queen

Blake Lively, extreme fashionista, enviable half of the Blake Lively/Ryan Reynolds power couple, and actress has starred in the popular former TV series, Gossip Girl, and more recently the films, The Age of Adeline, The Shallows, Green Lantern, Café Society, and the upcoming film, A Simple Favor, which has been part of an incredible amount of publicity stunts including many on Instagram. More than her acting chops, though, Blake has been making headlines for her impeccable style. In promoting her most recent film, Blake has been wearing many suits, including at the recent MTV Video Movie Awards.

Blake looks stunning in a white tuxedo-like blazer with three-slightly-off-centre-buttons with bright silver lapels worn on top of a fitted tuxedo shirt, her cuff poking out the ‘correct’ amount below the blazer’s sleeves to reveal French cuffs.

She pairs her fitted blazer with gaucho-like trousers, snug through the hip. The pants merge to form an almost skirt-like look, hiding her shoes beneath. Her hair is pulled back to reveal large, sparkling diamond earrings. Her makeup is neutral and her outfit makes her seem confident, calm, and lively – as usual.

Would you wear this new take on a classic suit style? A crisp white tuxedo shirt can be worn with anything from jeans to leggings to suit trousers and more!

A Vision in Velvet

Keira Knightly is most often spotted wearing iconic Chanel as she has been the long-time face of the brand, but, during her recent appearance at the Sundance Film festival, Knightly was donned in a new take on a menswear tuxedo.

Like Lively, Knightly paired a fitted blazer – this time a sumptuous black velvet – with a gaucho-style pant, cropped this time (is this a new trend?) with 1920s-style black heels, toes rounded. A fitted waistcoat with silver buttons, matching the suit jacket’s buttons, makes a bold statement. The stark contrast of the black and white with her severe hairstyle, bold brows, and gorgeous red lipstick (Chanel, we hope) makes a statement – a far cry from her usually soft, flowing garments and hairstyles Knightly usually wears.

This time, she’s channelling the glamour of her Atonement days (that emerald green dress, anyone?) whilst standing beside her co-start, Dominic West, for the Collette premiere.

Knightley has come a long way since her Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean days, don’t you think? What do you think of these new takes on a classic tuxedo? Would you wear Knightley’s look on a night out?

These three looks are more night-out than boardroom, office, or day-out shopping looks. However, suits can be a classic look for women. Try pairing your favourite jeans with a fitted blazer, some heels, and a crisp white shirt for a look that will take you anywhere. To find your perfect style, get in touch with out tailoring team.
